Information about GPU

The abbreviation of GPU in English is “Global Photographic Union” a
nd its Turkish equivalent is “Global Photography Union”.
When GPU defines itself, it first states that this union is not a structure related to the “association/club” or federation structure that photographers regularly participate in in their countries or cities.
GPU was created for individual photographers who want to take part in a truly international organization where the art of photography allows and encourages cultural exchange.

GPU gives three types of titles for your individual achievements.
The first of these is the “Crown” titles, which we will translate as “Crown” in Turkish. These titles are determined by the points received from the exhibitions and awards the photographer has collected in international competitions. You can reach detailed information about this title group, which has five levels, at https://www.gpuphoto.com/apply-for-distinction.
The second type of GPU title is “VIP –Very Important Photos”, unlike the Crown system, it is not a title received automatically. In this title, which has five levels, applications are made based on the first place, gold medal, and best photo awards you have received in international competitions. You can reach detailed information at https://www.gpuphoto.com/apply-for-vip-distinction.
The third type of GPU title is the “APRODITE, HERMES and ZEUS” titles, which are given in order if your portfolio application, which you will make on 10 different topics, is accepted. You can find detailed information on this subject at https://www.gpuphoto.com/apply-for-title-distinction.
How to get GPU support for a competition?
GPU, which has many photographers worldwide as members, gives “support numbers” and “medals” to international photography competitions. Since this support number is important in GPU title applications, many participants check whether the competition receives GPU support. After determining the English rules of the competition you want to organize, click on the https://www.gpuphoto.com/salons-with-gpu-license/apply-for-a-gpu-license link for GPU approval and fill in the information step by step. Here, you can request a medal according to the number of categories of the competition you will hold, for a fee. After the information is checked and the approval is given, the system directs you to the payment plan. After your competition is approved, it is published in the GPU Approved Competition list, which is regularly informed to GPU members.
